Easter in NYC

It was 70 degrees in NYC today. We slept in again and then got ready for conference. The Easter Bunny visited and left us some peeps and left Addie a Tinkerbell sippy cup and play dough toys. She loved it! She was really good at searching for the Easter Eggs that were hidden around the front room. We're not sure she understood it, but she really loved it. We enjoyed the first session and then went on a walk up to check out Trinity Church. We also went by ground zero. We watched the last session of conference and had a great Easter dinner. Mom never fails at Easter dinner. It was amazing. We finished up conference and Nate and Jake ran down 39 flights of stairs in the apartment complex to let out some excess energy and now we are just enjoying the Easter evening while we think of this great day and the importance of it. We are lucky to know the importance of the resurrection.

Saturday in NYC

We slept in Saturday morning...which was very relaxing unlike the night on the plane. Jenny, Melissa, Nate and Jake went on a 3 mile run on a trail in battery park next to the river. It was very sunny and Nate and Jake did super good, almost better than Jenny and Melissa! They got back just in time for conference. We enjoyed conference and then during the intermission, we walked up to China town and little Italy. We felt like we were literally in China with all the Chinese people and writing on buildings. It was sunny again outside so that was nice!

Addie SOOO Happy all the time
DAVE'S Work!

(Jake wanted to take some home)
The Last Half of the Fam aka the BEST half!

After the second half of conference, we had dinner and Dad and Nate ventured out to the Priesthood session. While they were gone, Melissa, Jenny, and Jake went out to find some things at a nearby grocery store. They ended up going to three grocery stores and couldn't find what they needed. This little trip consisted of probably five miles and one wrong direction and they weren't sure that Jenny would make it back without begging to go in every store, but She DID!! Go Jenny! We know our way around the city. This is the street we went the wrong way on for about 20 blocks haha good times.

Dad and Nate had a good report about the session and we were all tuckered out from another fun day in NYC!

NEW YORK BABY!!!

On Thursday night, we flew into NYC from SLC! No one really slept much...it was way too squishy. We rode in a suburban to Dave, Courtney, and Addison's house. They greeted us Friday morning with some yummy donuts and fruit. We were all very hungry and tired but so happy to see them! Addie was shy at first but opened up very quickly. She just wanted to hang out with grandpa! After napping all morning, we went on a small tour around New York City with the whole crew. Dave showed us around. We saw the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park and just enjoyed the nice sunny weather. We also saw where the NYC Wellings are moving to. They are going to love it!
The Slide Outside the NYC Wellings' New Place
After we walked around a bit, Dave and Courtney needed to get going to the airport for their fifth year anniversary trip to EUROPE! Dad wanted to see Clash of the Titans 3D on opening day in New York so he bought some tickets for himself, mom, Melissa, Nate, and Jake. Luckily, Jenny decided she would take this movie time to do some homework she needed to complete since she is missing ONE WEEK of COLLEGE! They said bye to the NYC folks and got some Mexican then enjoyed the movie! Addie and Jenny went home for lunch and nap time!

Later that night, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. We wanted to get some pizza at Grimaldi's in Brooklyn right by the end of the bridge.

When we got across, we had a little bit of a struggle getting to Grimaldi's...but like dad said, "What else is better than walking around New York on a Friday night?" Needless to say, we finally made it! There was a HUGE line and at this point, we were all pretty hungry. We decided if that many people were waiting it much be delicious. The view from the line was beautiful though so it wasn't too bad.

We also made some friends with a group of very nice and funny Asian girls that nicknamed Nate and Jake "Shake and Bake". We finally got in to the pizza place! The pizza was "alright" described by Nate. As you all know, hunger is the best cook. I'm not sure we will be TOO EXCITED about going back haha but it was a great experience. Addie was a great walker (and stroller rider) and just laughed and laughed in her stroller from the time we left until we got home. On the way back, Jenny thought it'd be a great idea to skip back across the whole Brooklyn Bridge. Melissa and Nate were ahead of Jake and Jenny but Jake and Jenny almost had an Apollo return. Needless to say, we skipped all the way across the almost mile long Brooklyn Bridge!
